What is Glass Heart?

In Glass Heart, we follow Akane Saijo, a drummer who was ousted from her previous band just before her debut, who is unexpectedly chosen by Naoki Fujitani, a reclusive and brilliant musician, to join his new band, TENBLANK. Together with band members Sho Takaoka and Kazushi Sakamoto, the band gains fame through Fujitani’s compositions and their electrifying performances.

We’ll follow TENBLANK as the band rises to stardom, faces numerous challenges, and the toll it takes on Akane. Audiences will see Akane’s journey from obscurity to stardom unfold as Fujitani’s secrets emerge.

Glass Heart isn’t just about the music; it’s about the grind, the rivalry, and the bonds forged in the fires of artistic ambition. Fujitani’s journey sees him clashing with the charismatic Toya Shinzaki (Masaki Suda), vocalist of rival band OVER CHROME, all while navigating the murky waters of a powerful, manipulative music industry producer. Through it all, the members of TENBLANK are there for each other, deepening their connection and solidifying their destiny as a unit.

The trailer kicks off with Naoki Fujitani (Takeru Satoh), frontman of the four-piece TENBLANK, as the curtain rises on what looks to be the most epic live performance in Japanese drama history. Over 5,000 extras and 12 cameras capture every single pulse-pounding moment.

It’s all aimed at transporting you to the concert. Sho Takaoka (Keita Machida) on guitar, Kazushi Sakamoto (Jun Shison) on keys, and the breakout heroine drummer, Akane Saijo (Yu Miyazaki) – all underwent intense musical training to ensure their performances are as genuine as they are endearing. It’s nice to see how much the core cast have embraced their roles.

Glass Heart’s unique sound comes from Yojiro Noda and Masahiro Tobinai

“Crystalline Echo,” the song we hear in the teaser, is composed by Masahiro Tobinai and penned by Yojiro Noda, and is just one of several tracks Noda has written for TENBLANK throughout the series.
