Project K has been the working name for Riot Games‘ League of Legends-inspired physical trading card game since its announcement. But now, the studio is introducing the TCG’s name: Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. In addition to becoming Riftbound TCG, the studio also updated the card design, format, and launch details for the anticipated physical card game. Not to be confused with the deckbuilding video game.

“We fell in love with the name Riftbound as it evokes Summoner’s Rift, captures a sense of playful action that we see in the game, and it’s extremely catchy and concise. As we moved to finalizing the name, we discovered that an indie studio in Australia, Barrel Smash Studios, had already released a game under the same title. They generously took the time to meet with us to hear our game vision, listened to why we loved the name of Riftbound so much, and agreed to transition the Riftbound name to us. We look forward to bringing Riftbound into the TCG and League of Legends community by getting decks into the hands of players later this year.”

The Riftbound TCGwill launch with its first set, known as Origins, which will launch with over 300 different cards, including pre-constructed (Champions Decks) decks for the classic champions. For those looking to power up their decks, 14-card booster packs with a variety of rarities will be available at launch. But to start, players can look to playing with pre-constructed Champion Decks or even Proving Grounds.

Additionally, Riot Games is partnering with UVS Games, an industry veteran with almost two decades of TCG experience, to ensure that players can find Riftbound in their local game stores and participate in organized play.

At launch, the Riftbound TCG will have several champions in its set from the League of Legends universe. These include but aren’t limited to:

• Lux
• Master Yi
• Viktor
• Volibear
• Yasuo

What are Riftbound: Champion Decks?

Riftbound: Origins Champion Decks are ready-to-play decks with 56 cards and feature a variety of card types including units, legends, champions, spells, gear, runes, and battlegrounds.

What is Riftbound: Proving Grounds?

For new or casual players, Proving Grounds is the perfect way to kick off your Riftbound collection. Riftbound: Proving Grounds is a boxed set designed to play with 2-4 players.

When does the Riftbound TCG release?

Riftbound or 符文战场 in China will launch in Summer 2025 with Shining Soul. Riot Games and UVS Games will launch the Riftbound TCG in English-speaking countries in October 2025 and additional regional rollouts in 2026. However, the English-speaking countries have not been detailed.

Throughout the year, players can demo and check out Riftbound decks at some of the upcoming Riot and tabletop events. Those have not been announced yet.
