How to use Shuttle Food Delivery App?

Using Shuttle is easy and beginner-friendly, especially since the app and website are completely in English, including restaurant names and menus. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide:

Use this link to sign up and receive 4,000 Won off your first order. Fill in your details to create your account.

On the website or the app, click on the upper right corner to set the delivery address.

Enter the delivery address. You can either type it, or use the map to set your location.

Add the address details (room or apartment number).

You can also include special instructions, such as the code for your building’s front door, so that the delivery person can bring the food directly to your door. Although this may seem unsafe and unusual to first-time visitors, it’s a common practice in Korea.

Click on “Save This Address”.

Before exploring restaurants, make sure to select whether you’d like delivery or self-pickup by clicking the option at the top center of the main page.

Select your food: Browse through the restaurant options and filters and select your favorite dishes. Make sure your order meets the minimum value required, as each restaurant sets its own minimum.

Click on “my cart” to review your order. Here you can also select if you need cutlery.

If you have a discount code, enter it at this stage to save money.

Click on “Proceed to Checkout” and choose delivery instructions (face-to-face delivery, leave it at the door and ring the bell, call,…) by clicking on the drop-down menu under “To Shuttle”.

Baedal Minjok (Baemin) is also one of the popular food delivery apps in Korea, with over 140,000 restaurants registered on the platform and 4 million orders processed each month. Currently, Baemin is only available as an app, and only in Korean. Although it is very similar to Yogiyo, Baemin delivery area coverage is wider and has more options.

To create an account with your phone number, you need a Korean phone number linked to your Alien Registration Card (ARC). Alternatively, you can sign up using a Kakao account, Naver account, or Apple account. Having an account comes with benefits, but it’s no longer required to place an order.

While Baemin might seem less foreigner-friendly because the app is only available in Korean, it stands out as more accessible to foreigners by allowing orders without an account, using any phone number (including foreign ones), and accepting foreign credit or debit cards for upfront payment. To sum up, you don’t need a Korean phone number, an ARC, or a Korean bank account to use Baemin.

How to Use Baemin Food Delivery?

Not confident in Korean? No worries! Follow our step-by-step guide to order on Baemin without needing to read Hangul fluently:

1. Download Baedal Minjok (Baemin) – 배달의민족.
2. Open the app and click on 확인 (Confirm).
3. Accept the necessary terms and conditions (필수=necessary) and click on 시작하기 (start)
4. You will be automatically directed to set your delivery address. If not, click on the top-left corner to set it.
5. You can type your address or use the map to locate it.

6. Add detailed address information: Building name (동); Floor number (층); Apartment number (호)
7. Choose your delivery instructions from the drop-down menu under 라이더님께 (To the rider):

• 문 앞에 두고 벨 눌러주세요 (Leave it at the door and ring the bell)
• 문 앞에 두고 노크해주세요 (Leave it at the door and knock)
• 문 앞에 두면 가 갈게요 (Just leave it at the door without ringing or knocking)
• 직잡 받을게요 (I’ll receive it directly)
• 전화주시면 마중 나갈게요 (Call me, and I’ll come out)
• 직접입력 (Custom instructions).

8. Then, click on 완료 (Complete).
9. (Optional) Add a door code under 공동현관 비밀번호 (Shared entrance door code) and any additional instructions under 찾아오는 길 안내 (Directions for finding the address).
10. Click on 주소 등록 (Register address)

11. (Optional) To create an account, click on 마이배민 (My Baemin) in the bottom-right corner. Then, click on 로그인하고 시작하기 (Sign in and get started). You will need a Kakao account, Naver account, Apple account, or a Korean phone number and an ARC.

12. Make sure to select the correct service option by choosing it at the top center of the main page:

• 음식배달 = food delivery;
• 가게배달 = store delivery;
• 장보기.쇼핑 = grocery shopping;
• 포장 = takeout;
• 선물하기 = gifting;
• 혜택모아보기 = deals and benefits.

13. Browse the app: Filter by food type (e.g., 버거: burgers, 피자: pizza, 치킨: fried chicken, 초밥: sushi, 탕: soups,…) or search for a specific restaurant or dish. Keep in mind that the first results are usually paid ads (광고 = ad).
14. When choosing a restaurant, check important details like delivery time, delivery fee, minimum order value, and reviews before choosing a restaurant. There are often two delivery options: 알뜰배달 (Eco delivery), and 한집배달 (Single delivery), which is a bit faster but slightly more expensive.

15. Pick your food and select any customization options, then click on …원 담기 (Add … KRW to cart).
16. Then, go to your cart by clicking on …원 . 장바구니 보기 (… KRW. View basket).

17. Review your order and choose your type of delivery.
18. Click on 알뜰배달 주문하기 (Order eco delivery) or 한집배달 주문하기 (Order single delivery) to select the delivery type, then click the button at the bottom with your total price.

19. A pop-up window will appear. Optional: Log in if you have an account by clicking 로그인하고 주문하기 (Log in and order), or close the window by clicking the “X”.
20. Check your delivery address under 배달 주소 (Delivery address) and your delivery method under 라이더 요청사항 (Rider’s request).
21. Click on 내 연락처 to add your phone number (can be foreign phone number).

22. Select the country code (e.g., France +33) and click 확인 (Confirm). Enter your phone number and click on 인증번호 전송 (Send verification code).

23.You will then receive a code by sms. Enter the code and click 완료 (Complete).  
24. (Optional) Under 가게 요청사항 (Store request), click 요청 입력 (Enter request) to write a message for the restaurant/store (e.g., remove onions, make it less spicy). You can also choose whether to skip disposable utensils or side dishes by selecting:

• 일회용 수저, 포크 안 주셔도 돼요 (No disposable cutlery or forks)
• 김치 등 무반찬 안 주셔도 돼요 (No kimchi or side dishes).
  Then, click 완료 (Complete).

25. Scroll down to select your preferred payment method, such as a Korean credit or debit card (신용/체크카드), Kakao Pay, or a foreign card (해외 신용카드).
26. (Optional) Add a coupon in the 할힌쿠폰 (Discount coupon) section if you have one.

27. Accept the terms of use by clicking 위 내용에 모두 동의합니다 (I agree to all of the above).
28. Then click on …원 결제하기 (Pay … KRW).
29. Check that the address is correct and click on 결재하기 

28. If paying with a foreign card: Accept the terms by clicking 이용약관 전체동의 (Agree to all terms) and 모두 동의 진행 (Proceed with all agreements).
29. Set the language to English, select your card type (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Union Pay), and click Next/다음.
30. Enter your card details and click “Pay for … KRW”.

Once payment is complete, your order is placed!

3. Yogiyo Food Delivery (요기요)About Yogiyo Food Delivery (요기요)

Yogiyo is one of the most popular food delivery apps in Korea. Although this food delivery app used to be completely in Korean, some parts of the app are now available in English too. However, the menus and other key sections are still in Korean. If you’re comfortable with reading and writing Hangul, Yogiyo is great for variety and locations. And if you aren’t, don’t worry-Yogiyo also has a website that’s easier for foreigners to navigate: by using Google Chrome’s auto-translate feature, you can view the site in English, making it a more foreigner-friendly option compared to other apps like Baedal Minjok.

To order online, simply open Yogiyo’s website in Google Chrome and enable the auto-translate function. If the translation option doesn’t appear automatically, click the Google Translate icon in the top-right corner of the browser or right-click on the page and select “Translate to English.” This handy feature can save you time and make the ordering process much less stressful if you’re having trouble with the app.

You don’t need a Yogiyo account to place an order, but having one offers perks like discounts and more payment options. Before ordering, ensure you have at least one of the following, depending on your payment method:

• A Korean phone number linked to your ARC: Required to create an account, which is necessary if you want to pay by cash or by card upon delivery
• A Korean card, Kakao Pay, or Naver Pay: If you don’t want to create an account, you’ll need one of these payment methods to complete your order.

How to use Yogiyo Food Delivery App (요기요)?

Download the Yogiyo App and agree to the terms of use.

You should be automatically redirected to the Address setting page. If not, click on the upper left corner to set up the delivery address

Enter your delivery address: Either type it manually or use the map and let the app detect your current location.

Add address details: Include specifics like floor number or room/apartment number. Click on “Save and continue”.

(Optional) On the bottom right corner, click on “My Yogiyo”, then on “Login/Sign up” to create a Yogiyo account. You will need a valid email address, Kakao, or Naver account.

Browse the app: Filter by food type (e.g., 버거: burgers, 피자: pizza, 치킨: fried chicken, 초밥: sushi, 탕: soups,…) or search for a specific restaurant or dish. Be aware that the first options shown are often paid ads, check reviews before deciding.

Pick a restaurant and select your food options. Ensure your order meets the restaurant’s minimum required value, which varies by restaurant. You can check the minimum order value, delivery fee, and the time the delivery should take under the restaurant’s name.

Review your cart: Check your selected items and ensure everything is correct.

Log in by clicking on “Log in/Create account”. OR, if you don’t have an account, add your Korean phone number by clicking on “Please provide your phone number”. Add your phone number and special instructions if necessary, such as a building access code, floor, or room number, and click on “Change”

Under “Requests to store”, add any requests to the restaurant: For example, “Please remove onions.”

Choose if you need cutlery or not by selecting or unselecting “일회용 수저, 포크는 빼 주세요” (= Please remove disposable spoons and forks)

Add delivery preferences by clicking on “Requests to rider” (e.g., face-to-face delivery or leave it at the door).

Scroll down and select your payment method by clicking on “Payment Methods”.

4. Coupang Eats Food Delivery (쿠팡이츠)About Coupang Eats Food Delivery

Coupang Eats is fairly new to the restaurant/food delivery game, but it’s quickly become one of the trusted go-to food delivery apps in Korea for hungry customers who are familiar with Coupang’s regular delivery service. Its users also can pay for food via the app and track the delivery in real-time, just like any other food delivery service app such as Uber Eats. 

If Korean isn’t your strong suit, Coupang Eats might is a good option since it works in English. That said, while the app itself is available in English, some restaurant menus are still in Korean, and a lot of the English translations are auto-generated, so they’re not always spot-on.

One big perk? Most orders show up in just 15–20 minutes, and you can even track your driver live on the app, making it perfect for when you’re starving and need food now. Plus, Coupang Eats offers free delivery for Coupang WOW members.

Unlike Yogiyo and Baedal Minjok, you need to create a Coupang account to use Coupang Eats. And to create a Coupang account, you need a Korean phone number linked to your ARC.

The ordering process is similar to Yogiyo and Baemin.

5. Mega Franchise Restaurants Apps: McDonald’s, Burger King, etc.

Of course, some restaurants or fast food chains also propose their own delivery app and websites. Mega-franchises from McDonald’s, to Lotteria, Burger King, Popeyes, KFC, Papa Johns or even pizza places like Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, and others offer dedicated platforms for placing orders. General Tips For Foreigners to Get Food Delivery in Korea

Enter Your Address First: Before browsing any app and selecting your food, make sure to input your delivery address. The app will then present a list of nearby restaurants, which is necessary before you can start exploring options.

Address Formats in Korea: Korea uses two address formats. If your address doesn’t appear when you type it in, try switching to the other format. You can find both formats on the Naver app. For example: 마포구 서교동 362-16 (Mapo-gu, Seogyo-dong 362-16) and 마포구 와우산로21길 19-7 (Mapo-gu, Wausan-ro 21-gil 19-7) are the same address, but written differently.

Key Address Details:

• Room/Apartment Number is indicated with 호 (101호 = room/apartment 101).
• Floor is indicated with 층 (3층 = 3rd floor).
• In the older address system, the building number is indicated with 동 (201동 = Building 201).

Minimum Order Amount: Most restaurants on delivery apps have a minimum order requirement, which can vary depending on the restaurant.
